Tonight, I took the boys with me to go get a few Poorboy Sandwiches and Subway Sandwiches for dinner. I had a chat with Dirk after Christmas that he had to start having some kinds of vegetables on his sandwiches or I was never going to buy him Subway again. We compromised on Spinach. After trying it, he said he really liked it because he couldn't taste it. :D Works for me! So we are on our way home from Subway and Victor is holding the bag...

V - Mom, I don't want trees on my sammich.
M- Trees?
V - Yeah. I don't like to eat leaves.
M - ???
V - Mom, I don't want leaves, ok? Just cheese.
M - Oh, you don't want spinach?
V - No, no leaves, ok? Just cheese on my sammich.

A few weeks ago, I forgot to post this, we were at Church and the kids went up for the Children's Sermon. At our Church, Pastor D has a little helper called "Elmo" who is a hand puppet that pops out of a gift bag and the kids love him. This sermon had to do with being in the presence of God by praying...

Pastor D asked Elmo if he's ever been in God's presence.

Dirk won a book this summer, he didn't like any of the book choices for himself, so he grabbed a Clifford book to give to Eve for her birthday - What a nice big brother!

Happy Birthday, Dad! We miss you and talk about you so often. Today, I asked the kids what kind of party you were having in Heaven or what you'd be doing today. They said that you were fishing today. I asked who you'd be fishing with, and they said, "Jesus!" They said you'd be teaching Him how to fish :D

So, in the birthday boy's honor...

For Dinner, we had Goldfish shaped bread for sandwiches. I had roast beef, with spinach and some pepperjack cheese, with some popcorn on the side. It was good. The kids got a big kick out of it! They had other meats and cheeses though lol

We also made cupcakes for Papa! The kids loved these, with a fishing theme of course :D

Oops, Eve had to put a note next to hers. She put extra spinach on it so it had a top fin and bottom fin.

It was nice to have a Christmas that we were truly able to buy our kids nice presents. We didn't go overboard, but instead of buying toys at the Dollar Store or some other cheapy place we could afford, we were able to buy them presents of quality. And we resisted the urge to buy them everything they wanted or what we wanted to give them hopefully teaching them that they don't get everything they ask for, they get what we and Santa believe they would love to have. I hope it worked :D

Presents from Grandpa

Grandpa sent some money for the kids to go on a shopping spree! GG Athman also gave the kids some money, so off to Target and Shopko we went!

I couldn't see Victor's toy, so I told him to turn it around. So he turned around instead lol

Eve with her new Zhu-Zhu pets - this girl LOVES these things. And we found them for 75% off, so she snagged two of them from GG Athman's gift money.
Victor is holding the new deck of cards - the boys and Daddy love to play cards.

Dirk scored some awesome Transformers that were on sale! "Love" doesn't describe how awesome Transformers are to him! These are the bigger transformers and light up. As I type this he is downstairs zooming them around and watching YouTube on how to transform them. The directions aren't cool enough, so he heads online to check them out :D

Here are two more Transformers that Dirk was able to get!

Victor loved this little fish. It's for in the bathtub. You pull the string and the tail flutters. I'm pretty sure this little boy is going to be Daddy's fishing buddy.

Here Victor is saying "YES!" and putting his arm up in victory as he found Red from Cars2 :D

Victor got a new scooter from G for his birthday tomorrow, so we found a Lightning McQueen helmet for him to wear while riding his new scooter. (Yes I know it's on backwards, but you couldn't see his face due to the packaging if I put it on the right way. I'll get more pics in a few days of him wearing it correctly.)

Miss Syllie and her new sippy cups. She giggled outloud when she saw these! It's the little things that make her happy :D We still have money left, I'll either buy her a cutesie little outfit that Gran would have picked out, or get her a baby doll. But the toys were so picked over for her age, I'll have to go out on a later day to find her goodies. She also got brand new pink forks and spoons so she can eat like a big girl. She giggled at those too!

Eve's first day of Kindergarten was today.

Dirk's first day of 2nd Grade was yesterday.

Do you have any idea how much I accomplished today with just 2 kiddos? A LOT. And they go to bed so early since they are so worn out. Dirk was actually up before 5am this am. Eve tapped me on the shoulder and said she was ready at 5:59am this morning. She was all dressed and ready to go. This should be an easy bedtime tonight LOL

Colorado

Last week, Sarah and I took a little mommy vacation to Denver, Colorado to visit Jon and Candace, and little Charlotte. I had an amazing time. I've now seen the ocean and the mountains, and the mountains by far are my favorite. So beautiful. So majestic. I cannot wait to go back. It was the perfect little getaway, and I am so thankful for Jon and Candace's hospitality, and for Charlotte letting us sleep in her big girl bed :D

I asked Bob, the guy who took over Dad's position with the city, if he would be willing to open a manhole for the kids so they could see inside. It's something I've been meaning to do with Dad for the last few years, but every time we'd go to do it, we'd get sidetracked with looking at construction sites instead. Dirk thinks the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles live in them :D Anyways, after looking down a HUGE manhole, Steve and the Wastewater Facility aka Poop Plant gave a tour of the plant to the kids. It was fun watching them hold their noses, even though some of the areas didn't smell lol

Mother's Day at the Spa

Dirk's class had us mommies come in for a hour of pampering. It was REALLY fun - I got my nails painted, each hand a different color - Had cookies and ice tea - Made a project - Played a game - Went for a few swings on the swingset, it was cold, so we didn't last long - And had a photo shoot. One my favorite memories made so far :D There is another picture but my scanner isn't working. So I'll post that one later.

Gran passed away on Thursday, May 12 from cancer. She fought long and hard over the last 7 years, and we couldn't be more proud of her. She will be deeply missed by us all. It doesn't seem real, just like it doesn't seem real that Dad is gone also.

Luv you, Gran. You were more than just a mother-in-law to me, you were one of my best friends and I already miss talking to you on the phone every few hours.

There is definitely no dull moments in our home with this Princess around! She makes us laugh on a daily basis. I absolutely LOVE all the Eve-isms she gives to us. Yesterday was her birthday, and Friday night she informed me that there should be balloons and a sign (banner) for her but not to tell her what they look like, that was to be a surprise to her. (Ok honey) And even though I'm not a fan of birthdays, I put that aside and went and bought a Tinkerbell, Princess and a crown balloons just for her. And a banner. She liked them. I said she could pick out whatever she wanted for her birthday lunch, snacks and dinner. For dinner, she said she was going to eat cookies "Because it's my birthday and I can eat whatever I want to on my birthdays." I didn't let that one happen!

She is SO ready for Kindergarten and even though I'm sure I'll cry on her big day, we are SO ready for her to go! But cannot wait for the stories her teacher will tell us :o)

I used the $2 catalina from the first Walgreen's Run to buy 2 Reese's at 2/$2 = FREE
And the cashier talked me into to sugar free gum at 50c each :o) I caved.

Each of the above was on sale for 25c each! Couldn't find any coupons to get them free, but I tried haha! Cupcakes are just in time for Eve's birthday coming up!

Colgate toothpaste on clearance for 37c each! I used 50c off coupon, tried buying 3, but they wouldn't adjust the coupon or the price of the Colgate so I could get 3 for free, so I had them take one Colgate off my transaction after they scanned the other coupons, so I had 13c overages for each one :o) I bought a few other things, but nothing worth noting.

I WAS SO EXCITED TO SEE THESE IN THE MAIL!

I love shoes, especially sandals, but can't really wear them in the winter. I was a lucky person to get one of these pairs when Bear Paw had a giveaway on their Facebook page! But I was TICKED OFF when I noticed they were size 7! Darn it! :o) They are so cute, but one of my sisters-in-law will get to sport these cuties around. Just better not be around me! I'll be jealous! One way I earn some extra spending money is by doing product reviews for www.viewpoints.com. Every so often they send me a message saying if I do "X" number of product reviews (I write a paragraph or 900 characters on a certain product in a certain category) I will received $X to Amazon. Through today, if you write 10 product reviews, you get $10 to Amazon. I just finished mine. I try to write 1 more than it asks for, just in case one of my reviews gets lost, or doesn't count because it's in a different category than they asked for, etc. I did a few of these over the last few months and was able to save up $25 or $35, I don't remember exactly, for Christmas presents! And with the sales I found on Amazon, that amounted to about $50-75 worth of gifts! Not bad for a few minutes it took to write up each review.

He absolutely loves to play with balls. And make Eve scream (he knows just how to push her buttons!). He would eat yogurt for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks in between if I let him. When he opened his present today, he skipped the toy cars in the bag and went straight for all the Hershey's Kisses on the bottom of the bag. He had to eat all of them before even thinking about toys. He loves his chocolate! He's talking so much now, it's so nice! When I sang "Happy Birthday" to him early this morning, he kept trying to blow out his pretend candles in front of him after each "Happy Birthday" in the song! He's such a sweet, fun, crazy little redhead!

So, I'm not going to lie. School programs are not that interesting to me. In fact, they bore me. Even with my kid in them. But, like a good mom, I drag myself there to support my boy. And I know in 20 years, I'm going to love watching the videos and looking at the pictures, because my little boy will no longer be that, a little boy. I can tell he doesn't care for it either, since he had more fun poking and jabbing his buddy, Jackson.

His class looked so cute all dressed up! I stopped by his classroom to snatch a pic of those cuties! I told them if they smiled really nice for the first one, then they could make a goofy face for the next one! They were SO excited about being allowed to be goofy!
