Grandpa!

Grandpa came for a visit! We went to the pumpkin patch to grab pumpkins. I told the kids they could pick out any pumpkin, but they had to be able to carry it all the way back to the van or they couldn't get it...

They had soooo much fun with Grandpa - both Grandpa and the kiddos slept very well that night. We had a great time with him and can't wait to see him again!

Eve-ism

We took all the kids to the hotel Grandpa was staying at so they could go swimming with him. Grandpa ALWAYS has a baseball cap on. So he comes out with just swim trunks on with a Hawaiian print.

E - Why does your swim suit have girly flowers on it?

lol In case you don't know Grandpa - he's bald :D

Dirk-ism

Grandpa and I took Dirk and Eve to the Book Fair at school so Grandpa could buy them each a book. Walking up to our house afterward, Dirk tells me...
D - This book costs $10.
M - What did you tell Grandpa?
D - I told him to buy it.
lol Not what I meant, kid.

Eve at Homecoming

For Homecoming, Loyola has their Senior class and their Kindergarten class sing the National Anthem together. Unfortunately, Eve's Senior friend - our old babysitter - didn't make it on time, and she spent most of the song looking for Kelly. But she found her good friend, Alyssa - aren't they adorable? I'll upload the video of the National Anthem when I can figure out how to transfer it to this computer, for some reason it's not working.

Dirk-ism

So, I'm looking at an amazing site called Kitchen Fun with My 3 Sons and Jill shows a picture of a beaver that she made out of baked beans and a hamburger.

Dirk looks at the beans and said, "Ew. It's made of tooters."

lol The only way I could ever get him to eat baked beans was to tell him they make him fart. So now he calls them tooters.

Sylvia - Milestone

Syllie took her first steps today - to me! I was so excited I was able to see her do that! My little girl is getting too big, too fast. She took two steps to me, then did it again, then all by herself took another two steps to Ryan. A few minutes later, she crawled up onto the couch. *sigh* She's the 'worst' monkey we've had. She loves to climb...onto EVERYTHING.

Victor-ism

Yesterday, we drove past McDs. Victor's in the back seat...

V - Daddy bring me to Donald's. Get french fries and chickies.
M - What? Daddy's naughty.
V - No, Daddy nice boy. He buy'ed me french fries and chickies. Daddy very good boy. *his eyes get really big* Daddy get me POP!

Eve-ism

E - Mom, how old are you?
M - 33
E - Is that close to being dead?
M - No. lol

E - How are apples made?
M - God makes them.
E - No He doesn't. He made someone smart to make them. So, who made them?

One Year Old

First Day of School

Victor had to put his backpack on also. He so desperately wanted to go with them. Three more years, Buddy.

Eve didn't give us hugs, kisses, knuckles, fives...NOTHING. What the heck? She just took off. I think she was ready. And so were we lol

Eve's first day of Kindergarten was today.

Dirk's first day of 2nd Grade was yesterday.

Do you have any idea how much I accomplished today with just 2 kiddos? A LOT. And they go to bed so early since they are so worn out. Dirk was actually up before 5am this am. Eve tapped me on the shoulder and said she was ready at 5:59am this morning. She was all dressed and ready to go. This should be an easy bedtime tonight LOL

Victor-ism

Victor lost his grip on a balloon he received today and it flew up into the air. This is the story he told Ryan...

V - Daddy, I dropped my balloon. It in the sky. I can't reach it.
R - Oh, no.
V - Papa will get it.

And that was that. He didn't fuss over not having his balloon any more, because Papa would get it for him. :D I don't remember ever telling him Papa was "up in the sky" like that. He's such a good boy.

Colorado

Last week, Sarah and I took a little mommy vacation to Denver, Colorado to visit Jon and Candace, and little Charlotte. I had an amazing time. I've now seen the ocean and the mountains, and the mountains by far are my favorite. So beautiful. So majestic. I cannot wait to go back. It was the perfect little getaway, and I am so thankful for Jon and Candace's hospitality, and for Charlotte letting us sleep in her big girl bed :D
