Update

I made Ryan bring the computer to the hospital so I could update this site and check out the pics that were posted :o)

All is going well. Victor is such a wonderful baby. He's so calm, and usually sleeping. He's a pretty good eater, as far as I can tell. I'll have him weighed just to see what he's at.

I'm doing well. I was able to get up and move around this morning and throughout the entire day, which is WONDERFUL! Yesterday I was pretty itching from the spinal, so I had to have benedryl, which made me so incredibly tired that I didn't want to do much except sleep. But how can you sleep when something exciting happens?! Only "bad" thing is that my blood pressure won't go down. I had some extra tests done to make sure my liver is working well and other stuff, didn't hear anything, so it must be ok. So I'll probably head off to take a nap here and rest up to see if that will help at all. Most readings after I've been sleeping/resting did not go down :o(

Well, stay tuned for more pics. I'll try to get them up tomorrow!

Welcome to the world Victor!

Baby Victor....

The baby's here!!!

Hi everybody! This is Raelene, a friend of Carrie and Ryan's. I just helped them bring their BABY into the world this morning and now I get the honor of introducing HIM to you!!

It's a BOY!!
Victor Lee Zeldenrust was born at 8:25 this morning.
He weighed 8 lbs and 1 oz (TINY!)
He was 21 inches long with a 14 inch head!

He's strong and healthy and Carrie did a great job! Both are doing well and are ready for visitors any day before supper time. She'd like the evenings off to be alone with Ryan and their new son. She'll be in the hospital until Thursday. :)

Congrats to Ryan and Carrie!!

Christmas Update

Eve excited about her new Mini Ponies. Derrick staring at his new Batman.

Kids making "Christmas Fishies" - dipping Goldfish Pretzel crackers in almond bark. Mmm!

Oh man did the kids have a great Christmas! And to be honest, so did I! This was the best Christmas yet - gift wise :o) I didn't ask for much, but I got it all! And then some that I didn't want to ask for bcuz I thought it was too much.
The only downside to Christmas was that I swelled up pretty good. I tried to stay hydrated and keep my feet up, but come the day after Christmas, the swelling in my feet never went away, even after sleeping. But I can't complain too much, this happened with Derrick when I was about 6 1/2 months pregnant, so for this to happen in just my last few days, I'm ok with. I just wish I would have "nested" earlier so I could actually get things accomplished! I can't stand too long before my feet start throbbing.

Derrick's favorite Christmas presents - anything Superhero related - he has new Batmans and Spidermans, Marvel calendar, coloring books, sword, stickers. Eve's favorite Christmas presents - hands down it is the 18 My Little Ponies she got!

Derrick got a hold of a pair of scissors and cute one of the ponies hair. No big deal. Until I found a very nice chunk of brown curly hair! He cut Eve's hair! I kept it for his scrapbook, but not after a nice scolding. And at least it wasn't her bangs!

Enjoy the few pics. And stay tuned, Baby Z #3 will be here shortly!

Christmas Time!

I can't believe it's almost Christmas! The kids are getting excited. Derrick has learned subtraction - we've had a countdown as to how many days there are left until they get to open their presents. He'll say how many days there are, then say then after one more sleep there will be this many days left and so on. Here's what they are doing to get excited or to prepare for the holiday to come...

They love playing Santa. Since Santa will put toys in their stockings, they take their socks and fill them with toys and give them to each other to open.

They keep asking who's gift is for who. Derrick is pretty good about noticing which first letter goes to who's name (except for his own, he knows all the letters). Eve just keeps grabbing presents and asking me who they are for. And is all proud of herself for knowing that "Carrie" is "Mommy" to her :o)

They practice going to sleep on the floor so Santa can come. I told them Santa will only come when they are sleeping. I have to say, at nighttime, it's been easier to get them to sleep :o) What am I going to do after Christmas?!

They love to turn on the lights on the "Christmas table" - where my town scene is. And turning on the lights around their Christmas stockings.

Looking at Christmas lights I think is their favorite (at least until they get to open their presents!). They like to look out the truck window and find the lights on homes - "Oh! Dirkie's side!" or "On Evie's side!" they'll yell as they find lights on their sides of the road.

Stay tuned for pics. I work tomorrow morning, will try to pick up a shift on Wednesday morning after we open our presents and before we leave for home. So it might be after Christmas before you get Christmas presents.

AND stay tuned for another bundle to arrive shortly after Christmas!

10,000th Visitor!

Who's it gonna be? Sign the guestbook please! You'll win a fantastic prize of spending a whole month with my kids! Ok, maybe not. But seriously, be proud of your timing and let us know who you are! Even if you are just a random person clicking on blogs :o)

We went and saw Santa yesterday...Again. Slowly trying to get Eve to go near him. She is way shy around him and didn't want anything to do with him once she saw him. We've told her that she doesn't get any presents from Santa unless she tells him what she wants. So Derrick jumps right up there and rattles off all these things he wants. And tells Santa what Eve would like, what a nice big brother. So we start leaving and Eve starts whimpering again. I asked her what was wrong - and she said, "I want to get presents" in this little shy, whiny voice. She knew she had to talk to Santa or else there were no presents for her. And just an hour or so beforehand, she had found THE Christmas present Santa had to get her - miniature My Little Ponies - a pack of three! She freaked out when she saw them! So I slowly walked up to Santa with her. She hid like usual and told me to tell Santa for her. But I said I wouldn't (need to help her get over her fears you know!). And Santa remembered what Derrick had said she wanted, so he asked her if she wanted a Pony. And a few seconds later she looked up, and said, "A Purple pony. Little, tiny pony." And then hid again! It was so cute! Here's two pics. The one of Eve was as close as she'd go to Santa until she realized she wouldn't get any presents. :o)

Pics and Videos Finally!

Here's a couple of pics on our way to D's Christmas program.

PLUS - I broke down and got a new camera! So there will be even more pics to see here! Aren't you excited? :o) No more just reading, you'll actually get to see the kids!

We also are making sugar cookies. The kids are having fun rolling the dough into balls, then squishing them and using the tiny cookie cutters we got them for Christmas, but I figured we needed to use them before then :o) I think Eve likes to eat the cookie dough more. We'll be frosting them too, and I'm sure that will get messy, so I'll have my camera ready!

8 years ago tonight Ryan proposed, during a blizzard. How ironic that we have had nasty weather the day or so. Where has the time gone?

Christmas Decorating

Alright. I love Christmas decorations. But not putting them up! Or at least not when I'm way preggo :o)

I still can't get Eve's little voice saying, "It's Christmas in my home" out of my head. She said it so soft, but so in awe. So I broke down and decorated some more.

I'm anal when it comes to Christmas stockings. I want them all to match, so I won't get any until we are done having kids. So this year, we had some fun. D and E made their own stockings. It was really fun! I cut out the stocking shapes from paper bags, punched holes all along the sides of them, and had the kids decorate them with a big letter "D" and "E" on each of theirs. They had fun with all the winter and Christmas stickers. Then I had them tie the front and back of the stockings together by weaving red yarn thru the holes. They did so well, I thought I'd have issues getting them to understand how to weave, but they did it without any help after me showing them how to do it in the beginning. Derrick then asked where the stockings go - and pointed out that we didn't have a fireplace to put them on. He thought that's the only place they can go. Downstairs next to the TV there are two hooks in the wall from who knows what, and I hung them up there. Derrick asked if Santa was allowed to go downstairs :o)

We also took the kids Christmas shopping for each other. We gave them each $5 and headed off to the dollar store. Man those kids have fun. I took D, and Ryan took E. It's fun watching them buy stuff for each other - especially when the REALLY found something they want, and they say the other one wants it. Derrick was set that Eve really wanted a bug set. I'm like, Yah I don't think so kid. :o) I guess Eve did the same thing with Ryan. But only once, so that's good.

I had my doc appt on Thursday. Baby is still really high. No dilation :o( And that's the only time she'll check. Unless I have contractions. I'm winding down at work. I get some funny stares from people - geez, you're still working. Yes I am. I would go NUTS sitting at home waiting for baby to come. But I do not close any more. That's too much for me. My last scheduled day is this Monday, and I'll just pick up shifts each day I feel like working.

I've also had some heart arrhythmias. So I am hooked up to a monitor at night. Doesn't bother me to do this, except that the monitor patches ITCH like a son of a gun! I wake up itching at it. Hopefully all is well with that, I do not want to be put on bedrest. So I try to keep hydrated, eat enough (I've been a pig the last few days!), and rest enough (easier said than done this late in pregnancy!), and hopefully that's enough to steer it away. I'm incredibly swollen now tho. But I cannot complain too much, I was this swollen with D and E during my second trimesters, so the last 2 weeks I can handle!

Well, speaking of rest, I should head to bed. Again, I've been trying to get that new digital camera, but I keep getting more and more obstacles in my way. So we'll see. And I'm still waiting on Ryan to get the pics and videos off his phone so I can upload them for you to see of D's Christmas program. I haven't forgotten!

Creative Kids

On Wednesday, Derrick has his first Christmas Sunday School program. It was very cute! My friend, Amy, loaned me her camera so I could video tape it. However, I can't seem to get it off the card and onto the computer so I can upload it for you all to watch :o( So I'll have to figure that out shortly.

The kids are really into their projects. They really like to paint - of course, it's the one thing that makes the biggest mess. But they do really well.

I started decorating today with the kids for Christmas. I put two strings of ribbon down our side window in the living room. One green, one red. We're hanging all our Christmas cards from it. Eve was SO EXCITED - she told me "It looks like Christmas in my house!" So we'll do some more here tomorrow and the next few days.

We bought Derrick a calendar (full of all the super heroes he's into) for Christmas. He's always asking what day is it today and what we are going to do and "Who's going to babysitter us today." :o) Babysitter us. He's too cute. Anyways, so I printed off a calendar for December. We went thru and put stickers on certain days - like a snowman on the first day of winter, the letter "B" stickers went on the days they go to Mrs. Barbosa's house - they LOVE it there! And Christmas Eve and Day we have Christmas type stickers on them. I asked Derrick what day (24th) this was and he said Christmas. I said, this is actually Christmas Eve, the day before...And he said, "Christmas Dirk!" Haha! He thought one day was a Christmas for Evie, and the other was a Christmas day for him! Not sure how I'm going to explain that one just yet.

The kids also are so into their colored pencils. Nate watched them for us the other weekend and bought them some eraseable colored pencils and two pencil sharpeners. Man these kids have been on cloud 9 since then! I still haven't been able to get Derrick to hold a pencil normal, he doesn't seem to care. But he colors so nicely now. Eve, does pretty good, and holds a pencil perfectly.

That's about it for now. Just over 3 weeks to go! I'm starting to get excited now. I think I've been so busy the last 8 months that I just didn't have a whole lot of time to really think about it - it seemed so far off! But now it's getting closer. The kids are sure it's a girl baby. And they know the girl's name I like and am trying to get Ryan to agree to :o) And Eve still says that the boy baby's name is "Doctor." So if this little one is a boy, he's got a lot to live up to :o)

Less than a Month to go!

Alrighty. We are down to the last few weeks here. So, for starters - any of you want me to text you right after the baby is born - I need your #! Send an email to me (carriezeldenrust@yahoo.com) or text me (507-317-9338) and let me know! I have quite the list going, but I'm sure my mommy brain missed a few of you. Otherwise check here - I'll have my doula update this site when I allow her to leave the hospital :o)

Kids are doing well. We are into "projects" right now. We made some for Christmas gifts, so I can't tell you what they are yet :o) But they did turn out pretty stinking cute! We went to the wallpaper store and got the outdated/discontinued books so we can use them to practice cutting, gluing, etc. They had Spider-man wallpaper and Dora wallpaper. The kids were pretty excited.

I will try ordering my digital camera again :o( It wouldn't give me free shipping the last times I tried, and now it went up in price - bummer! So I will check again today. I really want one that takes nice pics (not that the one mom loaned me doesn't!) but I want the video part to take longer than 15 second videos. I want to get Derrick to say the Lord's Prayer on it and stuff like that. Tomorrow my friend Amy is loaning me her camera for D's Christmas program at church. I'm so excited to see him "sing" - I'm sure he'll be like any other 4 year old up there and just looking around waving at people :o) So, stay tuned tomorrow night - I'll post the video if I can get it to upload!

Happy Turkey Day!

It's been a few days. Kids are the same - crazy running around as usual. I'm ready for it to be warmer so they can get out side!

We'll be heading off to G and Papa's house later tonite, or early tomorrow morning. Depends on if I can get the dog into a kennel or not.

Yesterday I got 3 new dresses for Eve - for $4 total! I was so excited, I've been looking for dresses that will match her dress boots. I found them at the thrift stores of all places! I like to go to those stores and let the kids pick out 2-3 coloring books. They go thru so many of them, and 10-25 cents is pretty cheap entertainment.

For the last 5 days, I have had horrible Braxton-Hicks contractions. I was just about at my wits end yesterday that I was going to call the doc. I see her on Friday, so I'm just holding off until then. But they last for like 12 - 15 hours of the day, coming every 3-4 minutes. So needless to say, I was beyond annoyed. Normally I wouldn't really care, but I'm just over 34 weeks, so if it turned into actual labor, that's a little early, even if I am ready to be done! Maybe we should decide on both names, first and middle, and then we could be completely "ready" for baby to arrive. We'll see...

Well, off to get ready for the day. I am waiting for the camera I want to go on sale, hopefully this weekend! And I'll be able to upload pics and videos of the kids more often! Or at least that's the plan :o)

Lord's Prayer Pt. 2

So after a few weeks, Derrick has been asking for the "other prayer" to be said. The other night, he said the Lord's Prayer all by himself! Well, according to his 4 year old memory :o) This is how it went (and I just asked him to repeat it for me so I would type it correctly):

Our Fadder
Who art in Heaven
Ha-wo-wed be my name.
My kingdom come.
My will be done.
On earf as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And give us our trespasses
and we forgive those who trespasses against us.
Lead us not to temptration
but deliver us from evil.
For the power and the gwory
Amen.

Not too bad for only hearing it about 20 times! I still love how he says "My" instead of Thy! However, he has dropped adding his name at the end of the 3rd line :o) I wish my camera lasted long enough for me to catch it on video - mine only takes 15 seconds and Derrick doesn't say it fast enough for that. I think I will cave and get a new digital. Was hoping to put that money towards something else, but I think in the long run, catching the kids on camera is worth more than some curtains or something that won't last.

GG and Kids

Last weekend, Gramma Athman was staying with Mom and Dad as she just had surgery on her back. The kids were warned to be careful of GG's ouie, and they were very good. Here's GG and the kids playing the piano.

No Love for Mom

So Friday I met Mom to pass the kids along for a fun weekend at G and Papa's house. They see Mom, jump into her car, sat down (no car seats were in yet), grabbed a fruit snack (they know G always has those for them!) and didn't think twice about saying goodbye to me :o( I'm glad they love G and Papa - but come on kids! Give Mom a hug and a kiss goodbye! Little turds, I had to ask them I don't know how many times, and it wasn't until G said, "Tell Mom bye" that they looked up for a second and said the quickest "BYE!" I think I've ever heard! I was kind of stunned. Little disappointed. But I know they just don't get enough of going to G and Papa's house that they were like - get lost Mom! I'm glad they are so comfortable and willing to go for a weekend away from me.

So then I called later and wanted to talk to them on the phone. Did they want to - they actually said "No" when G asked them to say hi to me! I see how I rate! :o) But they are having fun. Which is good. And I'm not accomplishing anything here since Ryan ended up staying here this weekend :o( That sounds mean, but I had so much on my to do list since this was my one and only weekend scheduled with no hubby and no kids since I had Derrick. Oh well. What can you do? So, I've dropped my list down to doing only two things today - putting all the kids' clothes away that don't fit into the right buckets, and cleaning the living room. I have 4 hours to accomplish this, as I work at 5. So, a quick call to see if the kids still don't miss Mom, then I'm off to get my mini list done! I want to post pics of the house soon, just to share how we've moved things around, painted, decorated, etc. So, it will probably be one room at a time, but I want physical proof that my house is clean...at times :o)

OH! About SEVEN weeks to go! SEVEN! And I'll have 3 kids 4 1/2 and under. AAAHHH! :o)

Happy Birthday, Auntie Marcie!

Happy Birthday! Glad I no longer have a teenage sister. I hope this means that you will grow up and be more mature, not so childish all the time :o) He he he!

Hope all is well in England! I bought a stamp to mail off a "present" from the kids, but need to actually put it in the mail, so you can celebrate your bday again in a week or so when I remember to mail it off.

Behave. Don't have too much fun :o)

Doc Appt

I had my doc appt yesterday. Baby's currently breech. No big deal since I have to have a C-section. And it still has time to flip, but usually by 32 weeks it's done. I'm just about 31 already. Crazyt. But I was wondering why I didn't feel the same as the other two. Measuring a little big - but she said, "You're right on track for your babies." Great. So much for not having a 10# again :o) But that's ok. They are cute chubby.

Didn't accomplish a lot of my to-do list yesterday :o( I started some of the other ones, just never fully finished them. So here's my list for today...

1. Finish cleaning off the table. ALMOST DONE!
2. Sweep the floor. Then if I get ambitious, I can wash it. But at least sweep it. DONE!
3. Vacuum living room floor. DONE!
4. Put all toys downstairs.
5. Empty out at least one of the boxes in our living room of "Stuff".
6. Clean off counter. Will get done on Sunday, when our new desk arrives! No more paper on the counters!!!
7. Clean off top of refrigerator.
8. Make it thru work. I'm so stinking tired.
9. Put plastic wrap stuff on the windows - the order came!
10. Read a book to the kids, or do something with them.
11. Oops, forgot one. I need a costume for work tonight. Need to finish finding it and put it together. More shopping. Yay. Not really. DONE!

Happy Halloween Everyone! Or as the kids have been saying - Happy Trick or Treats! :o)

To Do List

Hold me accountable - someone needs to! Here's what I want accomplished today, very badly!

1. Clean off the table - kids have had fun making projects, and there's stuff everywhere!
2. Clean out and organize the refrigerator.
3. Clean off the top of the refrigerator.
4. Clean off the counters.
5. Shoot the dog. I mean take him to the dog park. He's driving me NUTS!
6. Get the groceries.
7. Take kids to the library without screaming fits.
8. Vacuum living room and hallway.
9. Empty out both boxes of toys in the living room and put them away. NO MORE TOYS UPSTAIRS!
10. Wash kitchen floor.
11. Make it to my doc appt.
12. Stop in and see Ryan and work.
13. Take kids trick or treating tonight since I work tomorrow - they are having one INSIDE up at Bethany. And eat 1/2 their chocolate candy. :o) Kids don't need that much sugar anyways :o)

So, 13 things. I can do that. There's so much more to do. But I'd like the main floor to be cleaned. We want to bring home a desk this weekend, and I need to get everything ready to move around. So why bother cleaning before I make another mess, well - that's my mommy brain's way of thinking right now. So I'll just go with it :o)

Update.
1.
2. Done.
3.
4.
5. Ryan's taking him for a walk. Close enough.
6. Done
7. DONE! Without a fight!
8. 1/2 Done - Hallway only.
9.
10.
11. Done
12. Done
13. Done

After 5 hours uptown, I only have 3 done :o( And I'm exhausted. More came up that I needed to get done sooner than later that weren't on my list, but that's what happens. Kids are watching a movie from the library. So now's the time to get the rest done. I have just over an hour to get the cleaning stuff done. Ready...Set...Yeah Right, but GO!

Happy Halloween!

I have to work on Friday, so I took the kids to a Halloween "Party" this morning. And Tuesday I did also. So here's some pics of the kids all dressed up!

Eve did not want to be a ladybug. So I went and got her red nail polish. That's all it took for her to wear it! However, she wanted to be a Naughty Ladybug. Not a nice one. Just so you know :o)

Derrick loved being a Ninja! He practiced his moves with his new sword all day long.

Lord's Prayer

So the last few weeks I brought the kids to a new church - all by myself! And they've done pretty good. I enjoy it not being so "boring" - the pastor is more engaging in his sermons, the music isn't so 17th century, and the congregation is younger (for the most part, I still like that some of my favorite customers at Applebee's go there!). The only complaint I have with the kids is that they like to kneel on the floor and color on their chair seats. I'm trying to get them to sit, and if they color or read a book, that's fine. But they need to be sitting. The chairs aren't bolted down, so they end up moving them around and bumping people. But not often, just enough that I want to nip it in the butt before I can't any more.

Anyways, I realized the kids don't know the Lord's Prayer. And thought I should probably teach them this so they can "participate" more in the service. So today I decided that at lunch before we eat, we'd say the Lord's Prayer to get familiar with it. I said a line, and had them repeat it. I said, "Hallowed be Thy name" and Derrick replied with "Hallowed be my name, Dirkie." Ha ha! I love having them repeat things and seeing how they try to say it! They are so innocent.

I actually had the day off today! I was so nervous that I read the schedule wrong that I called in this morning just to make sure. I'm trying to get the house organized (not totally working). Sometimes when I have so much to do I just do nothing but write on my blog :o)

So to make me feel better, this is what I have accomplished today:

1. Put that stuff up on the windows in the kids' room to keep cold air from coming in.
2. Went to the store and made a list of stuff to order for the kids' Christmas presents.
3. Bought something to help light our pilot light of our furnace so we don't freeze to death this weekend.
4. Put 3-4 loads of laundry away.
5. Folded another 2 loads of laundry. Still need to put them away.
6. Fed the kids breakfast, snack, lunch, snack and dinner.
7. Watched 3:10 to Yuma. Not sure I liked it.
8. I made it to my PT appt - feeling better, so baby must not have grown a whole lot this week.
9. Let my husband go play basketball :o)
10. Cut Derrick's hair - I did pretty good, but I do hope it grows back quickly :o)
11. Cleaned up pee on the kitchen floor bcuz Eve didn't make it to the toilet.
12. Went grocery shopping, and let the kids have their own kiddy carts. That was fun...sort of.
13. Played on the computer. Ok, now I'm stretching :o)

What's left?
1. Order more window wrap stuff.
2. Put another 4 loads of laundry away.
3. Find a bassinet, since the kids broke ours a few days ago :o(
4. Do the dishes, ALL of them.
5. Vacuum.
6. Clean off the table.
7. Make peanut butter rice krispy bars.
8. Keep cleaning the basement so we can move the TV down there.

There, that should be good enough. Hmm, will it get done? You'll just have to wait and see...

Quick Update

I'm heading off to work here shortly, so I thought I'd better quick update before the weekend flies by like usual!

I'm doing pretty well. Therapy has helped, for the most part. But every time my body shifts to make room for the growing baby, I get a setback. However, still no major, killing pains that make me want to cry. I have had trouble doing some of the exercises, mainly bcuz I need to lie flat on the floor, and that pressure still hurts my hip. Went to the Chiro today and wanted to scream when she tried to push on my hip. She lightened up the next time, still painful, but glad things are back where they should be! I even noticed I could stretch with less pain - yeah!

We were supposed to go out with some friends last night at 10pm for some wings. I wasn't able to find a sitter, so Ryan just went. It's MEA weekend, and midterm weekend, so my sitters were gone and Brian and Josie took the one that wasn't in school! :o) I fell asleep shortly after 10pm, and woke up around 830am. Of course it wasn't straight thru, Eve woke up, Derrick woke up, you know the drill! I thought today would be a breeze, but I'm still tired. This is about the time I drag butt :o)

Cute story to end the post. Yesterday we brought Ryan some lunch and ate it with him at work. There was a flyer with some Halloween costumes on it. Derrick was going thru it, saying "I want to be a ninja for Halloween. Oh, I want to be a doctor for Halloween..." Then we hear him say, "I'm going to be a BUTT for Halloween!" We're like, he must have said "bug." No bug on the flyer. He repeated, and again said "Butt". So we looked at the flyer - it was a costume for a Whoopie Cushion! Ha ha! He said he'd wear it so he could make "butt noises." I like that, sounds better than saying "fart." Dirkie, Dirkie.

28 Weeks - Month 7 - Last Trimester!

Wow - I'm in the last trimester - last leg of this journey! ;o) Baby has been very good, I was just thinking the other day that this one hasn't been very active that I've noticed. Then two days ago this little one became super active. Kind of annoying, but I guess it's a good thing, right? Feeling overall pretty good. I'm still tired by the middle of the afternoon/just after dinnertime. But don't have the time for naps. I didn't close on Friday, and had a nice section closing on Saturday (no steps, no ramps, little walking) and my hip felt so good when I was done! Sore, but I was at least able to sit on the floor without wanting to scream. Wish I could request that section every Fri and Sat! We'll see what I can do :o)

Derrick and Eve have been very creative lately. We are working on a project for Gran to mail to her last week (oops!) but will get it to her at the end of this week.

Derrick is very good at coloring, drawing stick figures (he's working on drawing fingers on those stick figures). Eve I just taught a few minutes ago how to use scissors. She cut up so many pieces of paper! I drew 2 lines on her paper and had her cut on the lines. She did fairly well, but we'll work on that some more!

Ok, off to get some more cleaning/organizing done. Kids jumped all over the bassinet the other day and cracked the sides of it :o( So I need to get that up in our room before they ruin it any more and it's not useable. I need one for #3!

Great Pics!

Oh I was so excited to see these pics! The kids were photogenic, if I can brag a little :o)
They also had a lot of fun just running around outside. I realized both need new shirts, Eve is officially out of size 3 and Derrick is a good size 7, some 8's. No more Smalls or size 6's for this boy!

Congratulations!

Congrats out to Dave and Karly on the safe arrival of Caitlyn Charlotte!

I took the kids shopping today for Alisson and Bradon's Big Sister/Big Brother gifts. They were more interested in the toys than the things I thought Karly might appreciate more (coloring books and puzzles). They would hurt less when Bradon throws them :o) he he he

Caitlyn is a little peanut. I got to take a quick peak at her before she left the room. She was 7# 12oz and 20 1/2 inches. I don't know what I would do if one of my kids was that size! But she was absolutely beautiful. All cozy, wrapped up and sleeping. Just the way I like them :o)

Eve has been having a rough few days I think. The last 3 nights she has wet the bed. She's had a new schedule over the past few weeks, and I think she's just stressed out. I spent more time with her today, and plan on doing even more tomorrow - including reading to her which she asks us to do ALL DAY LONG! But I think she needs more one-on-one time, so hopefully that will help out. She wasn't feeling well a few days ago, but she doesn't seem to be sick any more. So hopefully this will all pass. Luckily I still had a few diapers left. She was NOT happy about having to wear one, but I explained to her that if she wakes up with no potties in her diaper, she can wear panties again. I was just sick of washing her bedding this much!

Ryan said they played very well together today while I was at work. So that's good. They are both feeling much better and back to their normal, energetic selves!

I've been having a TON of Braxton-Hicks (practice contractions). Very annoying. I wish I could get them to stop since I won't really be needing them :o) My hip is doing better in some ways, and worse in others. I can now walk without severe pain. But I can't sit on the floor without severe pain. However, since I do more walking than sitting on the floor, I'll take it! I'm usually in desperate need of a nap just after dinnertime, but won't take a nap since I would probably want to keep on sleeping! And now it's 11pm and I'm still awake. I should go. Stay tuned for pics. I plan on taking some fun ones tomorrow before it's too cold to be outside for a while!

12 weeks to go!

Only 12 weeks (about) to go! Baby is about 2 pounds now, and over 14 inches from head to toe. Baby's active. Gets the hiccups or something like them and it annoys me :o) I'm VERY tired. The closing shifts on the weekends are starting to get to me. So I'll give them a few more tries and we'll see if I can handle it. Otherwise I'll drop down to just a first-off instead. I haven't been first-off in so long! I was scheduled for it yesterday, but when I returned to work it was changed, so I closed. But it went well. Pretty slow, and I know it's bad to say - but I'm so glad it was!

My hip still hurts to the point it takes my breath away and I don't want to move. Usually when I'm sitting on the floor, or trying to get out of a vehicle. I haven't had that kind of pain when walking - so that's good! It's painful to do the exercises, but I still try to do them. I figured anything will help, right?

Kids are doing well. Getting over a bit of a cold. Our old humidifier had some water (and some mold growing - ICK!) from last winter, so that got thrown out. So I'm looking into a new one as I'm sure we'll use it this winter sometime. Ryan and I also looked at making bunkbeds for the kids so we can fit three in that room. So we'll see how that goes.

Derrick is getting very good at drawing - especially stick figures and faces. It's pretty cute! Eve absolutely LOVES to color. They can spend hours coloring and doodling. I gave them each a notepad of paper and it kept them occupied for a wonderful length of time :o)

New Outfit

Thanks Gran! I LOVE my new candy outfit!
The kids are also enjoying going to The Little Red School House. This is the *gulp* daycare that I found that could take them once a week. When I say they are going to go play there, they usually clap and jump up and down. So I'm glad they like it there. I just needed someone on Tuesdays, and this way they get to play with a few other kids. It's small, which I like. So far they have been there three times, and each time they've gotten outside for a few hours! You should have seen them yesterday - they were covered in leaves and dirt and paint. They had a BLAST and crashed after dinner. Well worth it :o) It's almost like a little preschool. They may not be learning numbers and letters (I can help teach them that), but they do art projects and other stuff. They usually don't want to leave when I come to pick them up!
It's hit me the last few days that in less than a year, Derrick will be gone for 8 hours a day M-F! I can't believe he'll be in Kindergarten. I hope the school we wanted to send him to changes back to 1/2 day. This all day Kindergarten I don't really care for. And this fall was the first time they switched to be like every other school in Mankato, so now there is no more option of 1/2 day :o(
We also have to replace both water heaters in the duplex :o( Bummer. But at least I'll be able to take a shower for longer than 10 minutes with hot water! :o)

4-year-old Reasoning

Yesterday Derrick and I went shopping for some groceries. On the way, the song "Big Girls Don't Cry" came on the radio. After a few verses, Derrick said to me: "Mommy. Big girls don't cry. Ok? So you can't cry any more. The truck says so."

:o) The truck says so. Too cute! And he had an interesting story on why I can't cry anymore. I asked him when I cry and he made up some story. Kids.

Thankful

Here's some pics from Josie and Emily!

One-year ago today, we had our accident. We're very thankful that we had very few injuries (ones that healed quickly), and that we found a new vehicle we love!

I'm now 26 weeks. WOW! Only 13 to go! (I get to knock off 1 week since they are scheduling the day so I don't go into labor.) Since I have HUGE babies, maybe I can talk her into going even earlier, before Christmas. But we'll see ;o) Feeling pretty good, except for my hip, especially after my closing shifts. Ready to fall asleep right now, but I'm getting used to needing some extra down time/rest/sleep.

Emily came over to play (you can "meet" her in some pics below) today with the kids so Josie and I could go look at some houses. It was soooo fun! Especially laughing at the house where the kitchen had no sink and had a urinal. NEW house. Not some old run-down house, one in the Tour of Homes. Crazy! But we got some good laughs. And some good ideas for our future homes. Eve was NOT ok with there being another kid in the house to play with her toys, Ryan said she was incredibly jealous of Emily. Derrick loved having her around, showing her toys, etc. So, just as he was with Eve, he'll be a very good Big Brother to the new baby. Eve is the one that probably won't take it so well. She's the baby, and makes sure everyone knows that!

New Camera!

Ok I don't have the new camera yet, but I've been saving my fun $ for weeks now and I have enough saved up to finally get one! I appreciated that my mom and dad gave me their old one, but it just doesn't take pics like I'd like it to - NOW! With two kids, I need something that takes pics when I push the button. And one that will take a video longer than 15 seconds. I really miss taking videos of them talking. They have the goofiest stories.

The library visit today went much better than the last. They agreed pretty quickly on a video, and they found lots of books they wanted. Since we go there every other day practically, I limit their books to one each. But with this whole new section of books, I let them have more. They are enjoying "reading" them as I type. Sort of. Now they are swinging stuff around. So that didn't last long. Can't wait for them to learn to read on their own. I'm not into reading that much, but I think when they are more into chapter books and not so much just picture books, I'll enjoy it more. I'm reading the 5 Minute Bible Stories to them every night - one chapter each night. And I like that. They get restless, but they know that's the only book I'll read to them before bedtime.

I also found a daycare that will take the kids on a "drop-in" status. I only need someone on Tuesdays over the lunch hour. I'm still waiting to hear back from a friend of mine to see if she can take them. So we'll see who we go with. I also need a sitter every Friday from 4 til Ryan's done with work - usually around 5-515. So less than 6 hours a week I need someone, but it's been hard to find :o( Without paying for a full 50 hours a week! I can't imagine having my kids in daycare full-time. There are many days I wouldn't mind shipping them off, but I'd want them back the next day. And it will be all too soon when Derrick enters kindergarten and is gone all day. I can't believe it's less than a year away already. Time to teach him to write his letters! We have a bunch of books he loves to go thru - fun games on top, lines to write on the bottom of each page. He's more into the game parts, obviously. But he has written a few numbers and letters very well. He can write his name, but not so well yet. And only if you write it first, then he writes it below. He's so smart, as soon as I put the time and effort into really showing him how to do it, I know he'll catch on. He's great at drawing and coloring (and staying within the lines!). It's one of his favorite things to do!

Craziness

Last night I could hardly sleep :o( I think the baby grew, and my lungs weren't ready for it. It was hard to breathe all night, and most of the day - just couldn't seem to get a full, deep breath in. Yes, I have three more months to go! This one might end up bigger like Derrick, we'll just have to see. I don't remember this with Eve. But then again, I don't remember much of Eve's pregnancy. Now it's going better.

I also had my first therapy appt yesterday. My left leg/side is week, hense all the pain and stiffness when I walk most of the time. I was given certain exercises to do to help get some stability back. I tried to do the exercises, but it requires me to lay on the floor and it's incredibly painful to lay on the hard floor on my lowback/tailbone. I have another appt tomorrow. I'm sure this will all be better in a few weeks. It feels ok to do some of the exercises, but when I am supposed to relax in between reps, that's the part that hurts. I should get a mat or something. That might just help.

I took the kids to the library today to get a new movie. But the deal with them the last few times we've gone, they BOTH have to agree on a movie. I'm trying to get them to compromise every now and again. DID NOT WORK TODAY! Derrick was bound and determined to get his Strawberry Shortcake movie, not the Strawberry movie Eve picked out. Screaming, yelling (on his part) in the nice, quiet library. Yeah, not so fun. The library has this big fountain with huge rocks surrounding it, and Derrick kept running around them, crying that he wanted his movie, not listening to me one bit aobut giving me the movie, be quiet, etc. Not fun. And pretty embarrassing. I loaded them in the truck after I caught him (hard to threaten a child in front of everyone), buckled them in, and then went back and got movies for me. Derrick was mad. He went straight to bed when we got home. He only acts like that when he is super tired. Which he was. They are both growing, and need naps during the day, at least every other day. I hope tomorrow is better. And their schedules have changed, with Ryan's new job, me still working. They want to spend time with both of us, and we haven't quite figured out how to do that. It's getting better, mostly on my part to make sure they get more cuddle time in and play time with Mom.

Ryan's had a few rough days at work, but that's what happens with sales. I'm sure his day is coming soon with some good sales! I think he still enjoys it more than Security, so as long as he is happy, I'm happy. :o)

Old School

Ha! A friend of mine, Ashley, uploaded this pic to facebook. Had to put it on here. Gave me a good chuckle. Ryan and I are going to get a printer/scanner/faxer/everything-er in a few weeks, so I'll be able to scan old photos and newspaper clippings also. So be forewarned.

Therapy

Well, it's been almost a year since our car accident. I went into the chiropractor today and said that I'm still having problems with my hips. Hard to explain, but there are many days a week that when I walk, it's like a nerve is getting pinched or my muscles are so tight that it's actually painful and difficult to walk. I suffer thru it, like I've done with any injury in my life. But I'm getting annoyed with it bcuz I'm not able to work as much as I'd like to on closing shifts. So, Dr. Paula suggested we do some physical therapy to get some stability back in my hips. I'm up for anything right now. Just sitting here I can feel a knot in my butt. I've tried doing several stretches a day, but at times I can't get my leg to move to get back up. Something's going on and I'm giving into going in for help. With baby on the way, it may only get worse if I don't get it figured out. Hopefully it's something simple, a certain stretch or exercise I am not currently doing that will heal me up!

Kids have been going to be so much better lately now that one falls asleep in our room, and the other in their room. Kind of a pain to do that and it may be a hard habit to break later, but I'll take any nights without fights at bedtime any way I can!

We went to the library yesterday and the kids picked out a couple of videos. They are currently in the Barbie Nutcracker movie. Derrick picked out a Land Before Time video, which I really like. All the Land movies have had some sort of theme in it to reinforce in the kids, this one is listening to their parents. And when I asked Derrick what the movie was about, he said that! I was impressed he understood. AND he listened very well yesterday. I made sure to comment on that to him that I like it when he listens to me the FIRST time I tell him to do something.

The kids loved being at G and Papa's. So did Zale - he got to do some much needed running. We didn't get a lot of time to spend there, less than 6 hours, but the kids were happy they got to play with G's toys and take some fruit snacks home. They are already asking to go back! Unfortunately, it was raining most of the time, but we still let the kids play around in the light mist for a few minutes to get rid of some energy before heading home.

Marcie's Going Away Party

Can't believe Marcie leaves on Monday already. She'll be studying in England for this school year. So we'll head back to good ol' NR and have a little party. I hear Pizza Hut pizza is the menu item of choice for her last meal. Sounds good to me! :o)

I'm doing well. Tired, but keeping up. We have lots of meetings all over the place, but we are having lots of fun! I'm still working like normal. I'll keep that up as long as I can. Makes this pregnancy go by faster!

Ryan is keeping busy between both furniture stores. He's doing very well at sales! I like hearing how well he's doing every day. He has some fun competitions with fellow coworkers to get them to sell more. We'll have a busy month in October, as he has only one day off, and that's the day he goes to Omaha.

Kids are also doing great. Eve is talking everyone's ear off that will give her any ounce of attention. Her vocabulary is increasing more and more. But she's caught a few phrases from something on a video that I didn't know was on there and therefore I have my work cut out to teach her not to say it. She's still not always sleeping thru the night and usually ends up in our bed every other night. I never cared when Ryan was working overnights, but three's a crowd now.

Derrick seems to also be learning by leaps and bounds. I wish we could have had him in preschool this fall, but wintertime will be just fine. He has a number of preschool books that we go thru to learn how to write numbers and letters. He also learned how to draw stick figures! It's so neat - he only draws his Turtles, but it's a start. I'll have to get him to draw one on paper instead of our chalkboard so I can keep a copy of it.

Well, I'd better go. Need to find a sitter for tonight and tomorrow night yet. Why do I keep waiting until the last minute?

Birthdate

We have a birthdate for this baby! No I'm not telling, you'll just have to keep an eye out after Christmas. :o)

Doc appt went well today. Measuring well, which is a change from the other two! Baby's heartrate is in the 150s. Kids got a kick out of going to the doc like the other times. They just like talking someone new's ear off I think!

Happy Birthday, Gran!

Happy Birthday, Gran!! We love you!

We finally decided on insurance last night. Nothing like waiting until the last second, almost literally! We needed it to start today. So we are all covered, and we'll hopefully never have to use it. But it's there just in case. And I'm glad it's finally taken care of.

I'm about 22 weeks now. Can't believe how fast this one is going by. Baby is pretty calm. I hardly feel him/her kick, and when I do, it's not much. I know that can change, but I'm soooooo hoping this baby is more like Ryan than me, I can't take another one like me - I've already got 2!

Derrick has been doing summersaults all night. Oh, excuse me. "Turtle Rolls" is what he's calling them. He is so into the Ninja Turtles it's crazy!

Eve's pronounciation is getting so much better. She will talk your ear off, be forewarned if you ever come in contact with her. All I want is peace and quiet and I never get it if that girl is awake. I feel bad for her teachers already. But it's fun talking to her and getting her perspective on things.

I bought a new vacuum as ours hasn't really worked for such a long period of time I don't even want to tell you. I'm looking forward to it's arrival so I can get this house clean! The kids and I spent 45 minutes in the basement separating out the toys and picking them up. Sad part is I'm only about 1/4 of the way done. Well, maybe more since I spent most of the time picking up legos. The rest should go by quicker - just chuck the toys in the toybox! Or the garbage. My choice :o)

Finally!

AHHHH! I've been offline for a week! I'm going thru withdrawals, as I'm sure you are also without any updates from us :o)

Britt and Christine's wedding is finally over, and it went very well. She looked beautiful! And the kids can no longer call her "Almost Auntie Christine". We'll have to drop the "almost". The only complaint I have is that I didn't get my family picture I asked for :o( I've been waiting months for it! I was so mad!

I also survived the trip. Altho my hip is in some pretty bad pain right now. I have some heating packs and some stretching to do tonight to help it go away. I hope it works!

Enjoy the pics, I have a bunch of them! Sorry they are all over. I would accidently hit the wrong button, but it's taking forever to download them, so I didn't want to delete them and start over. Deal with it :o)
