Interview with Evie

Here are a bunch of questions I asked Evie, just for fun, to see how she'd answer them :o)

What does Mom always tell you? Um, Go to bed!

What makes Mom happy? Cake. Does cake make you happy, Mom?

What makes Mom sad? Um. I don't know.

What does Mom do to make Eve laugh? Tickle.

What was Mommy like when Mommy was a little girl? See that Barbie on top of the TV? That's what you played with when you were a little kid.

How old is Mommy? I don't know. 6! 6!

How tall is Mommy? Ummm... This big! (Holding one hand way up above her head)

What is Mommy's favorite thing to do? Play at Applebee's (I guess I don't work there) and make cookies. (Um, yeah, that is a no. I don't like making cookies! That's what Daddy does in our house.)

What does Mommy do when Evie is not with Mommy? Make cookies (I'm sensing she wants cookies).

What is Mommy really good at? I don't know. Starving. (What?)

What does Mommy do at work? Makes some more money.

What's Mommy's favorite food? Cereal! Cereal! Cereal! (um, ok)

If Mommy was on TV, what should she be? A car.

What does Evie like to do with Mommy? Play games.

How is Evie and Mommy the same? Playing games!

How is Evie and Mommy different? I don't know.

Where is Mommy's favorite place to go? Applebee's. Mommy, why are you laughing at me? (lol!)

What's Mommy's favorite color? Pink! (um, that's a definite no.)

What's Mommy's favorite movie? The shark movie. (I'm guessing she means Shark Tale)

What's Evie's favorite movie? Pony ones! (duh)

Predictions

So I was playing around with a "How tall will my child be" calculator online, and this is what is foreseen for my kids :o) Kind of fun to play around with...

Dirk will look me in the eyes when he is 11 years old (5'7") - AH!
Dirk will look his dad in they eyes when he is 15 years old (6'6") - Wow. He'll grow 11 inches in 4 years, huh? Ouch.
He will stop growing when he is 6'7".

Dirk's Kindergarten Checkup

Dirk had his Kindergarten checkup this morning. We pushed it off so long so that he could spend 10 days at Gran and Grandpa's house. I still hear stories from him of how fun it was! He had such a good time. And came back with way too many toys! :o)

Dirk is 49 1/2 inches tall, and 61 1/2 pounds. He said he wants to be big like Dad. I think he's on his way! I can't believe he's over 4 feet tall! He's going to be looking me in the eye in just a few short years! He was a real trooper. He had to have 4 shots and have his finger pricked. He was not so happy about any of it, but received lots of little goodies for being so brave and not crying. I asked him if he wanted a strawberry shake or a new coloring book for being so good, he obviously wanted a new coloring book. That boy can color like there is no tomorrow! I should scan a few of his drawings and show them off. He's pretty good for 5!

This afternoon we head up to Loyola for a conference with his teacher. That should be interesting with 3 kids. I was not able to find a sitter as of yet, but I figured there is plenty of toys in a Kindergarten room to keep them all occupied!

Crawling

Here's Victor!

County Fair

Yesterday, I took Eve and Victor to the Martin County Fair where my friend, LeAnn, was working - she said she give Eve her first horse ride! We have been wanting to do this all summer, and thought it would be the perfect time to go when Dirk is at Gran's house. Eve had a BLAST! She got to sit on a horse for a few minutes before Johnny had to go do his stuff for the horse show. He was a beautiful horse! Eve was really disappointed though as she didn't get to ride him, only sit on him. And to be honest, I didn't think she'd even sit on him! So, I paid for her to ride the little ponies for a few minutes, and she was SO HAPPY! We spend hours at the fair, looking at the exhibits, going to the petting zoo - the camel loved her! And the goats tried to eat Victor's blankets :o)

I think Eve is really missing Dirk, but is having a good time. This was a good time to break her into having him gone all day for Kindergarten. At least he'll be home part of the day to play with her!
Enjoy the pics!

Happy Birthday, AUNTIE SARAH!

Happy Birthday, Auntie Sarah! And we can say "AUNTIE SARAH" bcuz today Scott and Sarah got MARRIED! FINALLY! :o) I cannot wait to post pics, stay tuned, as soon as I get them, I'll put them up!

So, now that they are finally married, Dirk, Eve and Victor now "officially" have cousins! Dirk loves playing with Jeremy as he's a bit older and has "cooler" boy toys than he does. And Eve loves to play with Kyrsten as she knows all the fun girl stuff to do!

New Haircut!

Well, I finally got the courage to go in and get Evie's hair cut. Unfortunately, it wasn't just for fun, it was needed as Dirk actually cut her hair a few weeks ago :o( I was so worried, but I went to Alyssa who we normally go to and she did a GREAT job! No more bouncy curls for this girl, but I think she's still adorable!

Pulling up and standing

Well, Ryan was watching Victor and Eve today and he put Victor in the playpen. After awhile he realized Victor was squealing and getting annoyed. Ryan turned to look at him and he pulled himself up to a standing position in the playpen! Jeez kid! He's crawling all over the place now. He's so mobile it's crazy!

Eve is beside herself without Dirk. She just doesn't know what to do. She's hardly eaten today. So for the next few days I'm going to get her some special treats and go do stuff with her that's just for her. I knew they were best buds, but didn't realize how much of an effect this is really having on her. We'll invite Japheth over I'm sure, so she has someone to play with. Oh my poor girl :o(

Dirk is having a BLAST though it sounds like at Gran and Grandpa's! I'm hoping to get pictures soon *hint hint* :o)

Crawling and Babbling

Tonight I put Victor on the carpet in the living room so I could get a few things done in the kitchen. Next thing I knew I was staring at him, and I KNEW what was about to happen! I just stood there in awe at my little man taking his first "steps" and crawling! I saw the look in his eyes and knew he was about to crawl to get that toy he wanted! He's officially mobile! I ran upstairs to tell Ryan, and he responded, "Yeah, I know." EXCUSE ME? He's done this before and you failed to tell his MOM!?!?! Men.

Plus Victor has been saying, "dadadada" when you do it to him. Tonight he started "mamamamama"! Yay! Now we'll see how long it takes him to put 2 and 2 together and realize it means "dada" and "mama". Ok, maybe I can wait on that part, as I already have two saying, "Mom. Mom. Mom! Mom! MOM! MOM!" all the time! :o)

Plus in two more sleeps Dirk is off to Gran and Grandpa's house for TEN DAYS! He's so incredibly excited I can't even begin to tell you how much. I can tell Eve isn't so thrilled as her best friend will be gone, and then just a few days after he returns he heads off to Kindergarten, so we will make sure her time is filled with fun stuff she only gets to do while Dirk is gone - like taking a trip to the Martin County Fair to check out the horses, or we'll go to LeAnn's farm to ride a horse! She's so excited for that! Plus I have a few things saved up at Applebee's for a free meal and dessert, so I will probably treat her one day also. Any other suggestions - send them my way!

Update on Victor

This morning we had a pediatric dermatologist appt for Victor's "thing" on his collarbone. It's a brachial cleft cyst, and does need to be removed. It will not cause him any harm, but it will never go away on its own. Not so sure I like the idea of my baby going under anesthesia, so we have lots of research and questions to ask. He also has a mastocytoma on his back. What it is, is a mole type thing that if scratched or irritated, releases hystamine or something like that. Nothing to worry about, unless his body becomes flecked with them. But she didn't seem worried about either one. Oh kid, your gonna make your Mom's hair turn gray! So, continue with prayers for him, and us as we decide how to proceed.

On a fun note - they LOVED him there! He was all giggly and waving like he did in the video below :o)

AND he started mimicking what we say to him! He's started saying "Dadadada" when we say it to him! Ryan's been working with him to say "Mamama", but he wouldn't do it an dstarted saying "Dadadada" instead Hahaha! He's growing up so fast :o)

8 Years!

Yesterday was our 8th Anniversary! We went out to the Mongolian Grill, which we both LOVE. However, before my food was done cooking, I got a call from work. A lady in my section left her keys, and I left a message at her home that I had them in my apron, and if she didn't pick them up by the end of my shift, I'd put them in the manager's office at check-out and she can pick them up at her convenience. HOWEVER, I never checked out - I just cupped my checkout and gave it to the manager and left. Her keys were still in my apron! Oh I felt so bad! So I had to leave, run home, get the keys, run up to Applebee's where she was waiting, and then go back to finish dinner. Of course I hit every stop light on the way there! We had a babysitter until 8[m so I had to call and make sure it was ok if we stayed out an extra 30 minutes so I could eat with Ryan. It was so rushed I hardly enjoyed it :o( But it was still nice to celebrate with Ryan.

The kids had a BLAST at Alisson and Bradon's birthday party on Saturday! There were 3 kiddie pools and 2 slip 'n' slides and it was non-stop fun!

Dirk tried to eat cherries - loved them!

Chillin' in the pool.

Nice Surprise!

On Thursday I got home from work and started cooking. Next thing I knew, there was a knock on our door. The kids were waving hysterically out the door. I looked out and it was Dad and Matt! They road their Harleys down! Oh how I wish I had the time to go for a ride with them. I love Harleys!!!

Victor had his first bloody nose that day. We turned our backs for a second and he rolled off the couch!

Victor also sat up by himself, from a laying down position! That was on Wednesday if I remember right!

Derrick-ism

School's inching it's way here! I can't believe in just a few short weeks my little guy is going to be in KINDERGARTEN! To crazy! He is SUPER excited tho! We're all set, except for the uniforms. But we'll get that taken care of soon enough.

Dirk: Hey Mom, can you catch one of those Thunder Flies for me again?
Mom: What?
Dirk: You know, those bugs that fly at Nah-Nigh time? And their butts light up (he was bent over, sticking his butt out, and moving his hand around his butt like he had a tail).
Mom: You mean a Lightning Bug?
Dirk: Yeah! Will you catch one of those for me again with your hands?

(We had fun the other night chasing lightning bugs around and he thought it was so much fun!)
