Names

Mom - "Hey, Evie. What's your name?"

Evie - "Evie Zelda-rust."

Mom - "What's Mommy's name, Eve?"

Evie - "Mommy Zelda-rust."

Derrick - "No it's not, Evie. It's Carrie Zeldenrust. Right Mommy? You're Carrie."

Evie - "NO! Mommy's Mommy Zelda-rust."

:o)

I love having conversations with kids :o)

Last night, Ryan said Derrick woke up about 230am. Ryan and our friend Nate were downstairs watching a movie. Derrick stood at the top of the stairs and talked about how "Daddy is a red dinosaur. And he's a good dinosaur because he can touch both walls like this (puts one hand on each wall) at the beach." Ryan was like, "Ok Buddy. Now go back to bed, Mommy's sleeping." So Derrick thought about it for a second, and went back to bed.

I asked Ryan if he was sleep walking again. He thought he might have been. I wonder when he's going to outgrow the sleepwalking???

However, tonight when we were putting the kids to bed, Derrick retold that story of the dinosaur at the beach touching both walls. I couldn't believe how he remembered it all!

Speaking of dinosaurs, Eve is afraid of dinosaurs and monsters. Lately she gets scared very easily, usually from noises of our renters. Not big noises, but you can hear them when they run up the stairs and down their hallway and it makes it sound like they are in our hallway. She'll come running to me whimpering about monsters. So we're teaching her to stand up to her fears, and to tell the monsters to "Go da way!" in Evie's language (Go away! in Big People language). She so cute, she'll come running up to me, I'll have to hold her, and she'll point her little finger up to the hallway and tell the "monster" to Go Da Way! Girls are so much different to raise already than a boy. Derrick got over his fear of dinosaurs within 2 weeks. Eve has been going on for a few months now. :o(
